¹In a letter dated 11 August 1885 to the director of the Bataviaasch Genootschap van Kunsten en Wetenschappen V. d'Armandville corrects his statement about lehi saying that it means 'half', 'de helft', so, either of two equal parts which together constitute a unit or either of two equal elements which form a pair:

īt īn liět fhasan lehĭ

opheffen probeer hand

(lift tryhand)

Probeer het eens met één hand op te heffen

(try to lift it with one hand)

The author compares lehĭwith Leti sablah: "klappernoot in tweeën ....(coconut cut into two halves) dapat sablah; hef op met een hand (lift it with one hand): tangan sablah".
